The weekly business magazine Wirtschaftswoche recently top-listed the most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany. Spanner Re² GmbH, from Neufahrn in Lower Bavaria, gained 170 points, being listed on the 10th spot, only 21 points behind the company on top of the list, the medical technology company Karl Storz from Tuttlingen.

The Munich-based consulting Munich Strategy Group (MSG) analysed 3,000 German companies with annual revenue between 10 million and 2 billion Euro, for the Wirtschaftswoche.

Both innovation and market opportunities of the products were incorporated In the assessment, as well as the innovation culture within the company. High points were awarded if many or all areas of a company were involved in innovation.

"Because innovations are not a coincidence, but arise due to a sharp implementation and a set professionalized culture of innovation," said MSG-founder Sebastian Theopold, for the Wirtschaftswoche magazine.

For Spanner Re² GmbH, whose wood co-generation plants locally generate heat and electricity from wood chips, using the technique of wood gasification by means of a combined heat and power plant, the tenth place in the ranking of Wirtschaftswoche is a prestigious award. For the Managing Director Thomas Bleul it is clear that this could only be achieved through the collaborative effort of all his employees.

This motivates the Spanner Re² GmbH to expand its position in the future as a world leader in the wood gasification technology and to minimize the dependency on oil and gas by introducing new products in the field of energy. "With our wood co-generation facilities, we have forwarded our quest for new energy sources a little further", said CEO Thomas Bleul.
